Create a New RSS Feed
Summary : This article explains how to create a new RSS Feed.
Creating a Feed
Go to [Administration] > [Content] > [Feeds] > [Add].
Select the appropriate Type of Feed and configure:
General Configuration
Click on the [General] tab. The following options available for configuration across all feed types.
For a list of type specific configuration options, please see the appropriate feed type section.
Field | Description |
Feed Title | Enter an appropriate Title for the feed. |
Feed Description | Enter an appropriate Description for the feed. |
Publish RSS | If required, check to allow subscription to the RSS feed. |
Published URL | If the RSS feed is to be published, create an appropriate URL for the feed. Note: The URL must always end in .rss or .xml |
ID | Easysite will allocate a sequential numerical identifier for the feed. |
Filters
Click on the [Filters] tab. Configure the following options and then click [Save and Return to Feeds].

Limit to items added/modified in the last |
In order to prevent old or out of date articles appearing in the feed enter an appropriate number of days. |
Must be in any of | If required click [Add Category] to select one or more page categories. The RSS feed will contain articles in any of the selected categories. |
Must be in all of | If required click [Add Category] to select one or more page categories. The RSS feed will contain articles in all of the selected categories. |
Must be in none of | If required click [Add Category] to select one or more page categories. The RSS feed will not contain articles in any of the selected categories. |
Maximum items | Enter a maximum number of items to be displayed, if required. |
Order by | Select the appropriate option to order results by. |
Display Comments in | Select either Ascending or Descending. |
Categories
Categories may be used to group feeds together in order to generate shorter lists of related feeds.
Check to select the appropriate categories, then click [Save and Return to Feeds].
Types of Feed
Page Data
Field | Description |
Include Consuming Pages | If required check to include pages matching the feed criteria where content is consumed from elsewhere. |
For Title Field | The title field defines what the article is called when displayed. Select the appropriate option. |
Display Category | Select whether the categories are referenced by name or id when the RSS feed is viewed in a browser. |
Include Restricted Results | If required, check to include articles normally restricted by page permissions. Note: Users will see restricted articles in the feed, but will be redirected to the login page if attempting to access the article. |
Use Page Content as Description | If using the Article page element to create a full content RSS feed which displays page content in the feed, check to display the content of the article element rather than the page summary as the article detail in the RSS feed. |
Page Content Identifier | If using the Article page element to create a full content RSS feed enter the unique identifier for the element. Note: the page content identifier should be formatted as: article-content [article identifier]. |
Source | Detail the Source Material. |
Publisher | Detail the Publisher. |
XSLT Translation | If required, enter appropriate XSLT translation information. |
Directory Data
Field | Description |
Pages/Directories | Select the appropriate instance of the directory. |
Category | Select to display articles based on the configuration of the directory, from a specified directory category. |
Blog Entries
Field | Description |
Page/Blog | Select the appropriate instance of the Page/Blog. |
Assets
Field | Description |
Display Asset Extension in Title | Check to include the file type with the title of the Asset. |
Display Asset Size in Title | Check to include the Asset size with the title of the Asset. |
Display Featured Assets Only | Check to display featured Assets only. |
Search Data
Field | Description |
Search Data Source | Select the appropriate option. |
Vacancies
Field | Description |
Page/Vacancy List | Select the appropriate instance of Vacancies. |
Vacancy List | Select the appropriate Vacancy List. |
Vacancy Category Filter | If required select a category of Vacancies to display in the Feed. |
Aggregate
Click [Manage]. The following view will be presented:
Click [Add/Remove Feeds]. The following view will be presented:
Check to select the appropriate feeds and click [Save Selections].
If required, click to select and reorder the list, then click [Save].
External
Field | Description |
External Feed URL | Paste the appropriate feed URL. |
Link Management List
Field | Description |
Link List | Select the appropriate list. |
Subject | If required, filter the list of articles further by selecting a Subject. |
Events Module
Field | Description |
Calendar | Select the appropriate calendar. |
Details | Click [Change] to select a page containing an instance of the calendar. |
Querystring Prefix | Enter an appropriate value. Only Events containing the prefixed terms will be returned in the feed. |
Category | If required filter the list of Events by selecting a category used within the Events Module. |
Show Events From | Select an appropriate option (e.g. show events from: starting today). |
Show Events To | Select an appropriate option. (e.g. show events to: one year from now). |
